Have you wondered about how the big decisions get made at the market? Do you love to linger by the info booth, chatting about your garden and this week’s market haul? Do you want to get more involved in your community’s connection to local and seasonal food? Now might be the time! Read below to learn about our volunteer program and our open board positions.
Volunteers
Every week, the market runs off the generous support of our volunteer program. We have shifts available every Sunday from 7:45am – 2:30pm, doing a variety of tasks. Come by in the morning and help us set up the market and then get all your shopping done before the crowds arrive. Sign up for an afternoon shift and help answer questions, direct patrons, or perform of weekly kids’ activity with the next generation of chefs and shoppers. Help us pack up at the end of the day, after you’ve had a chance to shop and connect with your favorite farms. We have volunteer opportunities that will definitely count as your exercise for the day, we have shifts that involve people skills, or alternatively, keeping your head down and counting tokens. We’ve got a whole shift dedicated to stickers and crayons! There truly is an opportunity for every person and every skill set. If you are excited about the market, we are excited to meet you!
The shifts are claimed weekly, meaning you are not taking ion a long term commitment by expressing interest. You can join the weekly volunteer mailing list here. Board Members
Hillsdale Farmers’ Market is governed by a volunteer board, comprised of members of our community. The goal of our board is to lead the market into the future, piloting us for success. More than ever before the pandemic, people are interested in buying local produce and supporting small businesses. Our market is where the harvest comes to Hillsdale, and we are in a unique position that allows us to bring food, resources, and education to the community. If you want to be a part of something important and help make the big decisions, joining our board could be a great option for you.
